My First German Soccer Game

Last weekend one of Martin's friends invited us to attend a soccer game with him. It was in Worms and was Worms vs Bremen. Bremen is several tiers above Worms so it would have been a huge upset if Worms had won, but it was still fun to go and watch a game... especially seeing as it was my first in-person soccer game here in Germany. And I can tell you one thing: it was loud. There's this all-male cheering squad with drums and they never. shut. up. They must have to audition to be able to sit there by being able to yell at the top of their lungs for 2 hours straight. Anyway, I liked their spirit.

Here's a video (really just the audio) of the cheering section:

And a few more photos from the match. It was at the EWR Arena in Worms which is not very big or fancy. I'm glad we were in the shaded part of the seating for sure.

Bremen's color is green and they released this green smoke from their cheering section. They waved big heavy flags for the entire game ... some people must have some really ripped arms.

After the match, we had dinner at the Altes Ruderhaus in Worms which is right on the Rhine river. The food was good, lots of seafood and veggie choices, and the views were nice. It's about 30 minutes away from where we live but maybe we'll find an occasion to get back there again at some point. Here are some views from dinner:
