Hotel Masson
We stayed at the Hotel Masson while we were in Montreux. The Hotel Masson is the oldest historic hotel in the Montreux-Vevey area and dates back to 1829. It still contains most of its original furniture (evidenced by the fact that my bed was very much broken and sunk in a solid foot every time I got into it). Note all the names are in French now because the language spoken in southwestern Switzerland is French. We took my parents through a lot of languages on this trip - Swiss-German, German, Italian, and now French. It was hard to keep up.
Since my mom took so many good pictures of the hotel and of the views from the hotel, I figured I'd turn them all into an entire entry about the hotel itself. It was a nice peaceful place to stay, though not right in Montreux it was still central to all the sights we wanted to see and the bus stop was only a 5-minute walk from the hotel.
Here are some pics of the hotel itself, set up the hill from the lake:
The balconies here are the original wrought-iron balconies from 1875:
These two bottom rooms and the terraces with chairs and tables were ours:
Roses on the side of the hotel:
And a view of the other side of the hotel:
My dad relaxing in the garden of the hotel:
The church next door to the hotel:
There were sheep right next to the hotel too, they were quiet at night but funny to listen to during the day:
And here are some views from the hotel of the lake and mountains:
