The smallest apartment, ever.

Pictures from the apartment in Zurich we will be living in until mid to late June. Yes, we will have to buy an air mattress for one of us to sleep on. No, I'm not sure the cat will fit in there. But he'd get to sleep a lot and move very little, just how he likes it. I'm not even sure there's a bathroom in there, actually.

Moving to Zurich!!

Today is the big day - Martin leaves for Zurich tonight. We have been planning to move to Zurich for almost 3 years now and it's been a long process to make it all happen. Martin has done almost all of the work for it, including applying for lots of fellowships to get himself some funding so we could go over there. That process alone took almost an entire year. Then he had to apply for his work permit and wait for that, then we had to get our visas. As soon as we each get there we still have to apply for a residence permit to live there. And then hopefully we can open Swiss bank accounts. Lots to do!

I plan to follow Martin on May 1st, hopefully with Onyx. We need to make 100% sure that Onyx will be allowed in our first apartment before we book him space on my flight though. Martin will check with the landlord when he arrives to make sure.

My job is also still up in the air ... I likely need to obtain some sort of work permit to be able to be a self-employed person in Zurich so I can continue to work for WSI. We are not sure exactly what I need to do to obtain my permit but this is another thing that Martin will figure out once he gets there. Hopefully. And if that doesn't work out, then I've got cover letters written and my resume ready to go out for several companies and the atmospheric science department at the ETH already. I've got all my bases covered to ensure I stay employed so we can afford to live in the 6th most expensive city in the world.

I plan to post pictures and stories here as soon as Martin gets there and settles in so check back for updates! Our first apartment, which we will live in until some time in June, is only 3 blocks from the lake and I know it's beautiful there so I'm hoping for some great pictures.
